40-6 was purchased fall of ’23 from Kurt Morgan as a baby pig for $18k for half-interest. He stayed at Kurt’s and we used him hard for fall and winter ’24/’25 litters. Many of our high-selling and best pigs shown in 2025 were sired by 40-6, including the Emma Dennis blue barrow that was Champion 4-H at Colusa County and went on to be 3rd Overall Light Cross at CYAE. He was one of the more impressive barrows we saw anywhere last summer. Fast forward to this year and one of our very best pigs in the December ’25 sale was sired by 40-6.

40-6’s sire, Sunrise, and his mate brother Sunset have killed it for our program, with their biggest success being Palyn Miller’s blue barrow that wins Grand Overall at Kootenai Classic last year: that barrow was absolutely incredible and one of the best we’ve ever been associated with. It’s no secret that Kurt’s genetics have blended and worked phenomenal here over the years. Wedding Night of course being the most influential but also Outta Line (raised here but sired by Outmanned). The linebred Best Man influence has been real and make no mistake: it’s still as prepotent as it always has been. While 40-6 has been largely under the radar, there’s no question he’s one of the best light cross options available anywhere and now that he resides in Colusa we cannot wait to see the impact he will have on our program.
